damnit i typed out something really neat and then hit the wrong button and it was gone.

hopefully the computer digesed it and is a tiny bit wiser.

umm it was about conceptual rift between the material world and our internal processes. thats what i'm groovin on nowadays. like, how can one reconcile the two, and not give precedence to either? cause sucess-oriented depressed businessmen give precendence to materiality, and crazy people give precendence to internal processes. i guess sanity is finding the balance... i sometimes feel that i can't express myself wholly with words. i guess this is why being an artist is important to me- a societally accepted way of expressing oneself without words. (like sometimes nonsense expresses more meaningfully than comprehensible symbols, WTF???)

i'm pretty sure everyone struggles with this rift between the two worlds- real and personal (mental/interior/emotional/whateveryouwannacallit). i am urious as to how people concieve of and (if possible) resolve it.

like i can only relate to you by mentioning something that we both share. something material or societal, like christmas. i got socks, underwear and chocolate.

(idea incompleted, see you later)

family came home.

rant warning.

dad is bombarding me with so many of his ideas whenever i work in the studio. he comes in and starts talkin, i have to stop what i'm doing and listen/give feedback/shut him up. endless goddamn stream of ideas. keep it inside your head when i'm in the middle of doing something! filter your fuckin ideas! i don't wanna hear anything about the things he thinks up for me to do, thats for me to figure out! i've got my own ideas thanks! he talks about getting his 'copies' (imaginary duplicates of him, presumably to do his bidding) to carry out his ideas. this notion used to be amusing. now it is annoying / pathetic. they do not exist! you can either give the idea away (no takers=let it die), or do it yourself. i am sick of his habit of delegating my/my brother's labor/time/energy into his ideas. no fucking more of this general manager/overseeing production/taskmaster-type attitude shit!

can you relate?

I'm gonna do a '$5 art show' in the studio sometime soon. the idea is to get as many people as possible contributing their artwork, and buying artwork. 2-day thing: first day, open studio & art supplies to make things, next day the show. d'you think its a good idea, ie, are we people actually willing to spend $5 on a peice of art??

maybe weekend after fair.

really satisfied with the arts i made for the last two critiques of the term. they were the only interactive ones in both classes (cept for a girl who drew icing on cupcakes). for design class i silkscreened a bunch of construction paper poster/flyers with circular designs centered on the corners, so each one could connect on each corner with 3 others sharing that design. i threw them up in the air and everybody tried to make them all connect. colorgasm. that one started out as a way to avoid doing schoolwork.
for drawing i photocopied parallel lines of varying widths onto transparencies, and layered them... hard to describe but you get a trippy effect when you move them around on top of eachother- some look like water rippling, some have moving/streching diamonds.
gonna go camping, probly three-mile lake near coast as soon as skool ends completely. mom asks, "how big is that lake?" uhhh, i'd say about... three miles.
I want to organize a game of capture the flag in that huge meadow by the river that's bounded by bike paths, and on east end I-5. (kinda near autzen) It's got so many trees, tall grass, hills & gullys, open flat spaces and dense brush. and lotsa bike paths so you could have bike scouts, and maybe a rubber raft or canoe in the canal on the north side. well, i don't want to organize it cause i have no organizational skills, i just want to play. walkie talkies & binoculars.
i also want people to do collaborative art of all media with.

ATTN: CASSETTE TAPE PLAYERS NEEDED old/crappy/broken/dirty ok. trades?

The sun a big mound of polenta with sun dried tomato? or a naked pineapple. or a huge squash.
Mercury could be a cheese ball.
Earth is tricky. it has to be the pièce de résistance.
Luna could be a coconut with the shell taken off. (is that possible?)
Jupiter a watermelon?
So Saturn would be a layer cake, with like carrot cake, lemon cake and chocolate cake with different kinds/colors of frosting in between.
Uranus or Neptune could be jello. the other could be a honey dew melon.
Pluto could be a stuffed eggplant.

what about:
Mars??
the Asteroid Belt?
Comets?
the 10th planet?
Jupiter and Saturn's numerous moons?
Saturn's Rings?

poesia!- rhymes in chronological order [12 Feb 2008|12:07pm]
had to flee the scene
to where the aqua is green
tortilla and bean
-
soon bees had discovered the cups
and the stuff
we spooned in (more, more, ok thats) enuf
and drank not quite totally up.

where liquid remained,
they buzzed in vain,
exhausted they drowned

where all had been drunk
they got stuck.
-
stash passed fast to ash
-
a lagoon
no moon to make dad a loon
with its pull it did play with the bay,
full, soon again drained

i bought a Frank Zappa bootleg record that was recorded in Eugene!
entitled " Joe's Garage Acts IV & V live?"

bootleg vinyl (snappier: hot wax) new obsession. i've got a killer Traffic (second gig ever), a quite drunk Janis Joplin & Full Tilt Boogie, and Jimi Hendrix jammin' with Jim Morrison (also quite drunk), one song where the entire lyrics is Morrison repeatedly screaming "Fuck your baby in the ass" really loud.
